Alex is a PhD student and would like to work for a government agency to continue air quality reserach after graduation. In her spare time, she plays soccer and enjoys hiking and baking.

Megan Schantz

Megan is an undergraduate in civil engineering and will graduate in May 2023. She is not sure what to do after graduation, but is interested in applying her minor in Green Engineering to renewable energy and sustainable farming. She loves sports (particularly soccer), skiing, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Seyed is a 3rd year PhD student in Geotechnical Engineering originally from Tehran, Iran. He is passionate about scientific research and hopes to continue researching in either academia or industry after graduation. In his spare time, Seyed enjoys reading, watching movies and any other form of story-telling.

Tyler is a junior and expects to graduate in December 2022, after which he hopes to work as a transportation engineer designing interstates or major highways. In his free time, Tyler likes to hike, find shark teeth at the beach and watch college basketball.

John is an undergraduate in civil engineering and expects to graduate in Spring 2023. Eventually, he would like to work full-time in land development and obtain his PE license in civil engineering. Outside of school, John likes to spend time outdoors, play soccer, hike and learn other new things.

Joseph is a graduate student at Virginia Tech; he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson in 2017. Upon graduation, he would like to either be a professor or a research/visualization scientist. In his free time, he enjoys working out, painting, listening to music and fishing.

Russell is the Faculty Advisor for the student chapter of Chi Epsilon at Virginia Tech. He joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 2008 and is a faculty member within the Geotechnical Engineering program area, with his research primarily focusing on geotechnical earthquake engineering issues. Russell was inducted as a student member in Chi Epsilon in 1991 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.
